Tip of the Day

When we were traveling in the south of Russia it was hot there but not as hot as in the central part of Russia. But even then the beetroot soup was the best decision for lunch. Our southern acquaintances shared the recipe of it with us. And today it’s been this dish that we’ve prepared for lunch (mu hubby eat two plates of soup and was so much full that the rest of the dinner we should have left for dinner).

At the beginning of May Soniya had her 2nd birthday. And what birthday, especially, the kid’s one, without a cake?! But I did not want to buy a cake in some store (as recently I’ve been coming across articles and TV progs about the products which can do harm to our health). And I did not have any time to make the cake myself!… Finally I remembered what cake can be quickly made for the festive table.

Russians love making and eating vareniki – a kind of stuffed dumplings. When vareniki are being made collectively (by friends or members of the family, especially together with kids), it is so much fun to make and eat them!

Merry Christmas, our dear readers!

Last Sunday meeting of the children’s art-group was devoted to Christmas.

By the way, we have prepared for you an illustrated story about Jesus Christ’s birth for children which you can download here or in the section of this blog Material for Kids”.

Last Sunday, there were 4 children at the art meeting. First, we sang songs. Due to it, the children’s attention was established (as well as the atmosphere of our today’s meeting). Then a little theoretical and practical episode followed: I asked the kids how one can make other people happy?… The children were smiling but keeping silence. When finally the voice of an adult was heard, “You can give someone a present”, I took a bag where each child found a parcel with toy cats and dogs :) . I wanted to show the children not only the theory how one should act but also its practical use (and also to illustrate the idea that presents can be given not only for something but also at any time without any special reason :) ).

For the last children’s art group which gathered at our place I made a tasty curd tart (before I had tried several other recipes but finally chose this one). This time I made this curd tart for the first time after our daughter was born (she is 19 mo now). No, the preparation of this curd tart does not take much time. You just want to cook it for very special occasions :) I remember I made such a curd tart for the doctor who was examining me (together with our little one sitting in my belly) during my last months of pregnancy – I really wanted to make something pleasant for the doctor, so good she was! The curd tart was a great success!
