Before Soniya (19 mo) went to the first in her life New Year Children’s Party, we had made several crafts devoted to this topic together with her. I was involved in experimenting with ideas on how one can depict the New Year’s Tree and our creative process which included different techniques turned out to be extremely interesting for our daughter. We are sharing our ideas with you. All these pictures could be nice postcards for relatives and friends on the New Year’s Eve. And we are sure almost everyone will appreciate a card made by a child.
New Year’s Tree Crafts with a child of 18 mo:
This New Year’s tree was painted with a fir-tree branch and finger paints. Then Soniya glued the balls and star (cut out by me) to the paper.
This fir-tree is made of millet. And then Soniya painted it with gouache. She decided to paint an oak under the fir-tree (as she informed me) and I was the one who finished the painting of the New Year’s tree.
I made stripes from corrugated cardboard. Soniya glued them to the white cardboard herself (I only helped her with the choice of the stripe and a little bit guided her hand) and then she decorated them with small balls of plasticine (we even got stars
).
We glued some fir-tree branches to the cardboard and then decorated them with cotton balls painted with finger paints. Soniya decided that she again needs an oak and she made one in red under the New Year’s tree
Guess what this New Year’s tree made of? It is made of wax crayons melted with an iron. The background is made with finger paints put onto a roller.
This fir-tree is formed by a string (placed onto the glue) and decorated with some cloth. But the whole thing is a bit difficult for a little child.
I made a fir-tree of green paper. Soniya tore off some pieces of color paper and glued them to the tree. And then we made some snow of cotton wool together.
And now the bonus of this article:
We painted the cone with acrylic spangles. And then Soniya decorated the fir-tree with balls of plasticine.
