What to Treat the Guests to? A Pie with Fruit-paste. Recipe

Would you like to treat your guests to something not very ordinary? Why not bake a pie with… fruit-paste stuffing (based on fruit-paste sweets) for them?! A wonderful dessert for a Christmas table or a birthday party.

Friday. 4:40 pm. 50 minutes are left till the guests arrive. “We-ell… I have to dress myself and our daughter nicely (the latter can take, let’s say, many minutes). But I still have time to make a pie!”

To be frank, I started making this pie in the morning – as far as the dough is concerned. And now I had to put everything on a baking tray and place it into the oven for some 30 minutes.

Our good friend Gulya, a dentist, shared this recipe with me.

Ingredients:

  • 2 eggs

  • Dry yeast (1 teaspoon)

  • Baking powder (1/2 teaspoon)

  • Sugar (1/2 glass)

  • Flour (the amount will be known when making the dough :) ).

  • Fruit-paste sweets (about 200 gr ).

Preparation

  • Mix (with a blender) all the ingredients except for the flour. “You will add the flour gradually – as much as is required for the dough not to be thin and not to stick, though it should feel sticky by touch” (here I was quoting Gulya :) ).

  • Place the dough into some warm place (I put it under the pillow) for a couple of hours. If, after these 2 hours, the dough seems not to have risen, just know – it is an illusion :) – it has risen but very little (it should be so).

  • Divide the dough into two parts: one is a bit bigger than the other one.

  • Roll out the dough and then spread the first layer about the baking tray (or some other baking form) with your hands.

  • Cut the fruit-paste sweets lengthways and put it onto the dough.

  • Cover the fruit-paste sweets with the second layer of the dough sticking it together with the edges of the first layer.

  • Bake in the oven for 20-30 minutes at about 180 degrees Celsius.

Bon appetit!

My pie was ready right when the first guest came!

PS And now the bonus of this article, especially for the readers of the “Parents’ Ideas” blog. Today, the first snow has covered the ground in our city. Our, almost 18 mo old, daughter could not but stay at the window pointing at the snow.

When we were walking with her in the afternoon I paid attention to some nice view. On returning home, I asked my hubby who had just some home to dine to look after our daughter and ran to the place with my camera. And now I am sharing my “sketch” of the beginning of winter with you.
