The Parents Are Cycling. And What about Their Kids?

My husband and I had bought bicycles two days before our daughter was born. By now I have cycled only three times (once on my bicycle and twice on my hubby’s one ). As for Valery, my husband, he rides his bicycle almost every day. Walking with our little daughter, I always pay attention to how other parents combine cycling and their parental duties.

In such a way one of the mothers comes to the children’s playground with her little one:

I asked her why she preferred ”cloth” for the baby and not a child’s chair for the bicycle? She answered that it is too difficult for her to take the bicycle with the chair and baby down from the 6-th floor. But if the child is behind her back, it is easier:

In our opinion, the child’s chair is safer as it is firm (protection for the baby) and the center of gravity does not move (in comparison with the situation when the little one is behind, on the parent’s back):

One more opportunity: the chair is placed not behind but in front of the parent (otherwise you do not see the child).

I was impressed by the experience of one family: the mother was cycling and in the chair on her bicycle there was a one-year-old baby-girl; two boys were following them, the elder one was on a two-wheels bicycle and the other one – on a four-wheels one; the father walking on foot with a big knapsack was seen at the very end of the procession (it’s a pity, I could not take a picture as the sporty family passed us very quickly).

Many children follow their mums and dads on their own bicycles:

And here is our experience: in such a way, during Soniya’s first month, we were walking at weekends – Valery was riding one vehicle and driving the other one and I had relative freedom of action

Cycling together with children seems a very pleasant and comfortable time spending. It relieves the monotony of parents’ life . This fact may encourage the parents who have not got bicycles so far to think the whole matter over
