How to Stop Baby’s Crying? or Riding a Blanket plus Tidying up

I think there are no kids who do not like adventures! As one good man has said, “The children who have got enough adventures are more disposed to quiet games and activities”. Which, of course, makes their parents happy. And where to find adventures for 6-12-months-old baby? Everywhere! Everything that goes beyond the usual way of life is already an adventure.

And an adventure can also help in a critical situation – to stop hysterics. Or, vice versa, to make routine work – house cleaning- more interesting. I will share our experience with you.

Once, 7-months-old Arseny burst into hysterics. Hungry after a long sleep, he was crying and could not stop whatever I was trying to do. Even the dummy, the baby’s bottle with milk, a switched on photocamera and mobile phone could not distract him from crying. In 10 minutes of unsuccessful attempts, to calm the baby down, I placed the baby in his little chair and started moving it from back to front. The little one was so surprised that he immediately stopped crying but his mood was not stable yet. That is why, in a couple of minutes, very carefully, tenderly talking to the baby, I placed him on an old blanket and started driving it on the floor from one room to another dragging the blanket by one side (that day we had already played that game and Arseny loved it – so, I decided to use it again). In some five minutes the little one calmed down completely and was already laughing lying on the blanket. In such a way, we got to the kitchen where I could, finally, feed him.

Later we remembered this game not once, in a more quiet atmosphere. I used it when I needed to tidy up a little and Arseny demanded attention and was not going to play on his own. Then I placed him on the blanket (in a bag on wheels, a children’s chair or a pram) and drove him about the apartment cleaning the house at the same time – taking a forgotten cup to the kitchen, dusting here and there, collecting toys in the corridor and in the kitchen and putting them into Arseny’s “vehicle” I managed to do not much but all that was done was worth it anyway

And since Arseny learnt walking, I have been using the same approach when playing our favourite game “I will catch you”. He is running away- I am running after him catching on my way what “lies badly” . Knowing the baby’s favourite routes, it is possible to set the apartment in (almost ideal) order quite quickly .
